Dionysian Customs

The most important custom of the Twelve Days, in the area of ​​Drama, is the tradional disguises, that are customary, in the form of events, on Epiphany days. They start on Epiphany day together with the ceremony of the Consecration of the waters and end on January 8, with different variations in several settlements of the prefecture.

The Carnival of Choristi

The carnival of Choristi village offers to the spectators a unique spectacle for our region every year, full of colours, satire, music and with the participation of young and old in the carnival parade.

Doxato Horse Racing

Horse races have been held every year in Doxato on 2nd May for many years. It is an integral element of the tradition of the historical Doxato village and one of the most important cultural events of Drama.

On 1st May, a crowd of people waits in the main street of the village, for the parade of the horses, together with their riders, that will compete the next day.

After the parade, a raving party follows at the shops of Doxato.

Oneiroupoli (Dream City)

The Oneiroupoli of Drama, offers smiles, sweet memories and a fairytale atmosphere to millions of visitors! Fairies, elves, reindeers, goblins, snowmen, but also Santa Claus himself, live in a place that... smells like Christmas. The atmosphere of the most "magical" celebration of the year, seeps into wooden houses, comes out of the chimneys and even reaches the highest trees. From there it dives into the illuminated ponds,accompanied by Christmas carrols, seducing anyone who is there to the rhythm of the days. Every year, the municipal garden and the city's central square ,are transformed into fairy-tale scenes and all visitors become protagonists, in the ultimate Christmas fairy tale: Oneiroupoli!

The Carnival of Xanthi is the biggest in the area.It has to show a series of music , dance , theatre events and its peak is done with a huge parade.

Motocross races at Krinide's track

Lovers of action and speed can enjoy the motocross races at Krinides circuit. Major sports meetings take place that provide unique sporting spectacles throughout the year, such as races in the MX65/MX85 categories of the Southeast European Championship.
