Holy Monastery of Panagia Ekosifonissa

Panagia Eikosifinissa, with its handmade miraculous icon, is one of the largest pilgrimages in Macedonia and it is the oldest active monastery in Greece and Europe.
The Monastery of Panagia Eikosifonissa is a historical monastery, located in the municipality of Amfipoli in the Perfecture of Serres, near the borders with the Prefectures of Kavala and Drama.
It is built in an altitude of 753 metres, in the northern side of Mount Paggaio.

Ascension of the Savior - Taxiarches (Sipsa)

The Holy Monastery of the Ascension of Savior, is located in the village of Taxiarches in the perfecture of Drama. The history of the monastery is linked with the life and pastoral work of Saint George Karslides the Confessor.In the monastery's yard you can find the grave of the Saint.

Holy Women's Monastery of Agia Paraskevi of Serres

One of the oldest monasteries of our homeland, the Holy Women's Monastery of Agia Paraskevi, is located in a picturesque location in the south of the Prefecture of Serres. Specifically, you will meet the monastery just 20 minutes away from the Achillion Palace hotel

Amphipolis -Timvos Kasta

The archaeological site of Amphipolis is one of the most important in Greece and the excavations have revealed valuable evidence about life and customs of its inhabitants in antiquity, as well as the Byzantine years.

Ιn 2014 excavations ,two marble sphinxes were discovered at the entrance ,from which the heads and wings are missing. During the excavations, two carved Caryatids were found. σφίγγες, από τις οποίες λείπουν τα κεφάλια και τα φτερά. Κατά τη συνέχεια των ανασκαφών, στο εσωτερικό του τύμβου, πάνω σε πεσσούς, βρέθηκαν σκαλισμένες δύο Καρυάτιδες.

Alistratis Cave

Alistratis Cave in Serres is considered one of the largest and most beautiful Caves not only in Greece, but also in Europe,with a total length of routes that reach 3 kms and are also accessible to people with special needs (PWD) who can tour 1 km .There are huge stalactites and stalagmites in various colors.

Nestos the Wildlife Sanctuary

The Municipality of Paggaio, just 14 km. from Achillion Palace, is suitable for both ,summer and winter getaways. Mountain villages, flowing waters, Byzantine monasteries, myths, history, beauty, Paggaio with its surrounding villages is an ideal destination for those who love nature, traditional flavors and adventure.

Lisse Fortress

Το Lisse Fortress βρίσκεται στο βόρειo τμήμα του Νομού ΔράμαςThe Lisse Fortress is located in the north of the Perfecture of Drama and is a defense complex , along the Greek-Bulgarian border that was named Metaxa Line,during World War II. Γραμμή Μεταξά, κατά τον Β΄ Παγκόσμιο Πόλεμο.

The exhibits of the Museum include armaments , belonging to the Greek and German armies, uniforms, medals and personal belongings of soldiers and officers. Also, in the courtyard there are cannons of the Greek army, which were used to defend the forts.

Lisse Fort is open to visitors every weekend and commemorative events take place on April 6th, every year.
